When were you first introduced to music?
I was born with some hearing difficulties and had various cases of otitis so my introduction to music was rather late. I started playing the trumpet at the age of 8 but ended it after some years in favor of the guitar which I detected through my interest in Hard Rock music.
Tell me about your favourite teachers
During my musical studies in college, I had a very special teacher from Poland who was tough but fair. He taught me a lot about music theory. At university I had several guitar teachers that I liked very much and specifically one who got me in to composing.
What are your fondest musical memories?
All my years of studying, I think. I’ve met so many talented people that have inspired me through the years. There are some concert memories, tours and my personal journey with composing and where I am today.
What is your favourite TV theme tune and/or film soundtrack?
There are some themes that I never can stop listening to: Flying Theme from HOOK by John Williams, most tracks from HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON by John Powell, the music from LORD OF THE RINGS by Howard Shore and many more…
What was the last music download/ CD you bought?
I think it was an album by Judas Priest. Long time ago.
Imagine you’ve been given €300 to spend on anything music-related. How will you spend it?
I would probably start to build up a home studio or perhaps take an online course in composing led by Hans Zimmer.
How do you balance music with your other obligations?
I work full time at a music school, teaching guitar and piano, so in my free time I compose.
Happiness is … of course that my family and friends are well. Happiness for me is also when I am composing in mastering the music in my head to be actual playable music. When I upload onto Soundcloud or Spotify it brings me happiness when people listen to my music.
