When were you first introduced to music?
This was via a school programme which took Grade 3 students to a Saturday matinee at the Toronto Symphony every few months. In my memory, it was every weekend – probably a reflection of how wonderful I found it!
Tell me about your favourite music teachers.

When were you first introduced to music?
It was my grandmother who encouraged me to take up the piano when I was about 5 or 6. She was a very skilled pianist with a remarkable musical ear and talent.
When I was about 26, I started playing the flute. I’d always loved the sound and dreamt of having one of my own.
